Small foreign objects, like hair or dust, often enter the eyes. They are usually flushed naturally by the eye’s tears or blinking, but sometimes they can become stuck or damage the cornea. A scratch on the cornea can leave a feeling in the eye like something is still there, so be sure to call us if you have this feeling. You may need antibiotics to prevent infection.
Large or sharp foreign bodies, like metal or glass, or debris thrown at high speeds, can cause significant damage to the cornea. If they become embedded in your eye, they will need to be removed by a trained professional.
